Brainstorming Ideas

Brainstorming, the best way known to man to creative thinking and business innovation.  In 1941, Alex F Osborn originally developed brainstorming calling it “thinking up”.  He later coined the phrase “brainstorming”.  This is a wonderful technique that is used  for problem solving using ideas of those in a group, having the input of so many minds, thoughts and ideas all gathered together.

The stimulation of the initial group and thought processes working together encourages spontaneity in brainstorming  ideas, very creative ideas that may have never surfaced in any other circumstance.  There is no judgments or criticism in a brainstorming session, which gives the group free reign to express whatever idea they come up with.

This is a wonderful tool, when you want to break out of the old traditional thought patterns into more of a lateral thinking, enabling new ways to see things.  This is great when you want to improve services you offer, or a way to improve one of your products, this opens up opportunities that would have never existed without brainstorming ideas.

When you are doing this with a group, you bring in all the knowledge and experience from many great minds.  You will discover that there are more solutions to your problem, giving your team the ability to be a major part of the solution.

This is an incredible use of the lateral thinking process.  This is asking people to come up with thoughts and ideas that may at first seem a bit crazy, maybe shocking.  But you can change or improve these ideas into some pretty useful solutions, and incredibly original.

Since there is never any criticism involved in brainstorming, you are creating the opportunity to break down any wrong assumptions that the problem has limited solutions.  Criticism only stunts the brainstorming ideas.  The only time the ideas should be evaluated is at the end of a brainstorming session.  That will be a time of a more conventional approach.

If the ideas start running out of steam, the session needs a bit of fuel.  There are many processes for doing this, stick around this site and you will find out.  Problem solving will be a fun and exciting thing now, easily handled, and quickly solved.
