1. Clearly State Your Problem
Before you start anything, you need to affirm to your mind that your problem can be solved and will be solved easily. You will find the solution using your own personal brainstorming. Make sure your problem is stated clearly and concisely. It should be in one sentence written at the top of a blank piece of paper.
2. Time to Write
You are now going to write down every thing that you can think of about this problem. Try to break it down into specific factors or circumstances that may have contributed. Remember, when you are able to define a problem, it is half way to being solved. Now that you have your information in front of you, you are about to tap into your most valuable tool. The innovation of lateral thinking will now be your best resource. If you kept all of this information in your head, you would not be able to see the connections, the relationships, the obvious vision that would not have been possible if all this information stay inside your head.
3. Solutions
Now review your problem statement you have made and the other information you have written down. Now you need to start writing any ideas that pop into your mind, don’t critique them, just write them down. This is the stag when you are trying to generate as many ideas as you can. May ask yourself a question like; “How would Thomas Edison solve this?” You are basically giving yourself a nice whack in the head, getting you into a different facilitation of your thinking process. You are trying to get some new insight on the problem.
4. Conclusion in brainstorm problems
You need to give some closure to your subconscious mind. When your mind if faced with an incomplete picture, it will continue to work until it can put in the missing pieces of the puzzle. You cannot leave a puzzle unfinished. Give your mind the solution then get ready for the next brainstorm problems session.
